Baybayin Visual Aid by Nordenx
Ever since I engaged myself in learning our history, particularly about Baybayin i thought it was that hard to read a word or even a sentence written in Baybayin. When I came across Nordenx’ visual aid in his Devianart website, it is as easy as looking at Latin alphabets.

“A visual aid for memorizing Baybayin script (fonts) through association. By manipulating the ancient script (re-orientation and adding imaginary lines), you can compare them to equivalent Roman alphabets. Please note that the uncanny similarities between Baybayin characters and the Roman alphabet is purely coincidental. The Philippine scripts were derived from Kavi script or Old Javanese, perhaps indirectly through the Buginese. It has also been suggested that the writing system was directly derived from Brahmi scripts used on the Eastern coast of India, such as Vengi, Chalukya, or Assam, originally transmitted in the 8th century AD.
I hope that this guide would help others improve their recognition of Baybayin characters and help them to ba able to read, write, and use Baybayin Scripts in their art.” – NORDENX

January 21, 2010 @ 2:51 pmHello! My name is Kat I was just reading your post and I would like to know how you wrote the Baybayin script directly on your blog. I’ve downloaded the font and I could use it on my computer and all–but the moment I copy and paste it on my blog, it turns back into the roman alphabet. I would really appreciate your help on this one. Thanks!

January 23, 2010 @ 5:57 pmHi Katherine!
I hope I am not late on replying to you. Anyway, those fonts are patterned to a western keyboard (as what i have understood from the font makers) so basically when you copy and paste it to your website (whether you are using wordpad, notepad or ms word) it will turn back to the roman alphabet.
However, there are options where you can still use the baybayin script in your website. The easiest way is to use the Baybayin Typepad (created by marfealsantiago). It is where I type my articles and copy paste it here in my site.
This is the link for the Baybayin Typepad in my site: Pisarang Baybayin
For a bit complicated option you can check on JC Cuneta’s blog:

By the way, may i know your website… I would love to drop a comment. Have a great day ahead Kat!
